NOTON is a traffic speed camera alert application for iOS that respects your privacy. This policy describes how we access, collect, use, and protect your personal data.
1. Collection and Use of GPS Location Data
📍 Background Location Access
The NOTON application accesses your GPS location CONTINUOUSLY, even when the application is in the background, minimized, or the screen is off.
Location access details:
Type of data: Precise GPS location (Location Services)
Background access: Continuous location when the app is in the background, minimized, or closed (Background Location)
Frequency: Location is obtained continuously while the speed camera alert service is active
Purpose: Detect your proximity to traffic speed cameras and issue real-time audio alerts while driving
Storage: GPS location data is processed ONLY locally on your device and is NOT sent to external servers
Third-party sharing: We do NOT share your location data with third parties
Retention: Location data is processed in real-time to calculate distances to nearby speed cameras and is NOT stored permanently
Why do we need continuous access to your location?
NOTON is a road safety application designed to alert you of speed cameras while driving. To fulfill this function, the application must:
Monitor your GPS position constantly while the service is active
Calculate in real-time the distance to nearby speed cameras
Issue audio alerts when approaching a speed camera
Function even when the screen is off or you are using other applications
User control: You can activate or deactivate the alert service at any time from the application interface. When you deactivate the service, the application immediately stops accessing your location.
2. Tracking and Advertising (App Tracking Transparency)
🔒 Tracking Permission
NOTON requests your permission before tracking your activity across apps and websites owned by other companies, complying with Apple's privacy policies (App Tracking Transparency - ATT).
What is tracking?
Tracking refers to linking data collected from the app with data from third parties for advertising purposes, or sharing collected data with data brokers.
Tracking data used:
IDFA (Identifier for Advertisers): Apple's advertising identifier, used to display personalized ads
Advertising Data: Ad interaction data
Performance Data: Ad performance and app usage metrics
Device ID: Unique device identifier for analytics
Your control over tracking:
If you ACCEPT tracking: You will receive personalized ads based on your interests
If you REJECT tracking: NOTON will display NON-personalized (generic) ads that do not require tracking
Change preferences: You can change your decision at any time from iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking → NOTON
3. Advertising (Google AdMob)
NOTON displays advertising through Google AdMob to offer the application for free.
Data collected by AdMob:
iOS advertising identifier (IDFA) - only if you accept ATT tracking
Device information (model, operating system, language)
Ad interaction data
Approximate IP address for contextual advertising
GDPR Consent (European Union):
For European Union users, the application implements Google's UMP (User Messaging Platform) consent system that:
Requests your ADDITIONAL consent before displaying personalized ads (only if you already accepted ATT)
Allows you to accept, reject, or customize your privacy preferences
Complies with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)
Remove advertising:
NOTON offers an in-app purchase to permanently remove all advertising. If you make this purchase:
NOTON downloads a traffic speed camera database from our Firebase Storage servers:
The database contains locations of fixed, mobile, section, and black spot speed cameras
It is periodically updated with information from contributors
It is stored locally on your device for offline functionality
We do NOT send your location data to our servers
7. Locally Stored Data
The application saves on your device:
Favorites: Locations marked as favorites
Routes: History of trips made (optional)
Custom speed cameras: Speed cameras manually added by the user
Settings: Application preferences and settings
Control: You can delete this data at any time from the application settings or by uninstalling NOTON.
8. Data Security
We implement security measures to protect your data:
Local processing of location data (not sent to servers)
Encrypted storage according to iOS and Keychain standards
Secure HTTPS connections with Firebase
No storage of passwords or sensitive data
Purchase receipt validation through Apple's secure servers
9. Data We Do NOT Collect
NOTON does NOT collect, store, or transmit:
Detailed GPS location history
Personally identifiable information (name, email, phone)
Contact information
Call or message content
Photos or multimedia files
Data from other applications
Credit card information or payment methods
10. Third-Party Data Sharing
NOTON does NOT sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties, EXCEPT:
Google AdMob: To display advertising (only if you accept ATT tracking)
Firebase (Google): For anonymous analytics and error reporting
Apple: To validate in-app purchases
Legal requirements: If required by law or to protect our legal rights
11. User Rights (GDPR)
If you reside in the European Union, you have the right to:
Access: Request information about the data we have
Rectification: Correct inaccurate data
Deletion: Request deletion of your data
Portability: Receive your data in a structured format
Objection: Object to the processing of your data

12. Children's Privacy

Updating the "Last updated" date at the beginning of this policy
Notification within the application (for important changes)

14. Use of the Application Outside Spain
NOTON has been developed primarily for use in Spain. If you use the application in other countries:
Data may be transferred and processed outside your country of residence
The speed camera database may not be complete or updated
Some features may not be available according to local laws
